The Maha Kumbh Mela 2025, one of the world’s largest religious gatherings, is underway in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, India. This sacred Hindu pilgrimage, which lasts 44 days, began on January 13, 2025, and will continue until February 26, 2025.

The event will draw over 400 million visitors worldwide, including pilgrims and tourists.

Held every 12 years, the Maha Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj is considered especially auspicious as it occurs at the confluence of three sacred rivers: the Ganga, Yamuna, and the mythical Saraswati

Devotees believe that taking a holy dip in these waters during the festival cleanses sins and brings spiritual purification

The festival grounds have been transformed into a temporary city, with extensive preparations to accommodate the massive influx of pilgrims. The Indian government has invested significantly in infrastructure, hygiene, and health services to ensure the well-being of attendees

Over 400 doctors and 700 paramedical staff have been deployed, and a 100-bed temporary central hospital has been established.

The Maha Kumbh Mela is not only a religious event but also a cultural spectacle, featuring spiritual discourses, devotional singing, yoga sessions, and the presence of sadhus and holy men from various Hindu traditions
